Beyond Statistics

PPRC is an independent policy research centre in Bangladesh, linking household research, quality statistics and institutional analysis with policy choices that shape people’s lives.

Why PPRC Exists

Close to people.
Useful to policy.

Bangladesh’s policy questions are national in scale but local in consequence. PPRC exists to keep that connection visible: how households cope, how institutions deliver, and where policy intent meets everyday reality.

Founded by Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman, the centre works from a clear discipline: begin with what people experience, then build the evidence needed for policy decisions.

The institutional mark, an eagle carrying a fish, holds that discipline in one image: wide vision, local knowledge.

Institutional Role

Research, advocacy and dialogue.

Since its inception, PPRC has worked on poverty, social protection, land, inclusive growth, governance, local governance, political development, quality basic education and sustainable urbanisation. Its core themes follow Bangladesh’s current and emerging priorities, while remaining connected to regional and international debates on democracy and development.

Policy research

Household research, national datasets and institutional analysis organised around Bangladesh’s policy choices.

Evaluation and statistics

Project evaluations, quality statistics and rapid diagnostics on issues of national urgency.

Dialogue and advocacy

Discourse promotion, policy advocacy and grassroots-to-policy networking across civic, policy and development actors.

How PPRC Works

From observation to policy use.

PPRC’s work moves from field observation to analysis, dialogue and practical policy use. The sequence is deliberately grounded: start close to households and institutions, then carry findings into judgement and action.

Observe

Start close to households

Field research, household surveys and community-level diagnostics keep the work grounded.

Analyse

Read systems with care

Datasets, institutional review and policy interpretation clarify the choices before decision-makers.

Test

Bring findings into dialogue

Evaluation, debate and stakeholder exchange test what the evidence means in practice.

Carry forward

Move analysis into use

Policy advocacy, communication and rapid response work turn analysis into usable direction.

People of PPRC
